Breakfast at Fino

From a picture-perfect image in the catalogue to a stunning finish in your home, your brand-new kitchen is a place to come together for family meals and social gatherings. When the fun times get messy and the parties are too good, your Veneta Cucine kitchen is a kitchen that will stand the test of life.

At Fino, we believe there is a time for work and a time for play. This Friday was definitely a tribute to the latter, as our top managers and colleagues faced off in the ultimate cooking challenge: A breakfast for kings! An opportunity for different departments to mingle and a great show for our durable, unforgettable Veneta Cucine kitchens.

We all know that a hearty breakfast is the best way to start the day, so our two teams of chefs set about creating a set of delicious dishes in a heated, head-to-head one hour competition.

Check out the yummy breakfast menu planned out by Team Oyster:

- Poached egg cupcakes with crispy bacon and mature cheddar cheese
- Salmon roulade on crispy potato topped up with cream cheese and caviar
- Mushrooms in garlic on toast
- Baked beans on toast
- Breakfast sausage wrapped in filo pastry sprinkled with poppy seeds
- Forest fruit yoghurt

Meanwhile, Team Lounge came up with these tasty treats:

- Pancakes layered with avocado, mozzarella and bacon
- Parma ham rolls stuffed with avocado and cream cheese
- Omelette slices topped with fried sausages and sweet cream
- Fresh melon and berries

That was quite the morning feast! Of course, no food competition would be complete without a taste-test, which is why we brought in professional chef Danny Drinkwater to judge our teams and their meals.

Danny Drinkwater began his culinary career at the age of 13, helping out in restaurant kitchens in his hometown of Manchester. In 2004, he was placed as executive chef of Park Hyatt in Sydney for five years, an establishment voted best hotel in Australia and New Zealand during Mr Drinkwater’s time there. Danny has travelled across the work as a chef, spending time in London, Bermuda and Melbourne. Danny now holds the position of CEO and General Manager of Iniala Harbour House & Residence, bringing exceptional service concepts to the shores of Malta.

As our judge, Danny wished to judge our teams based both on their ability to work together as an efficient culinary unit, as well as the delightful treats they brought to the breakfast table! After a lot of deliberation, Danny gave the prize of Best Team Effort to Team Lounge, for their exceptional coordination and feel-good vibes in the preparation area. Meanwhile, the Best Dish Award was a shared victory, as both Team Oyster’s delicious poached egg cupcakes and Team Lounge’s scrumptious layered pancakes were declared joint winners!

We had an absolutely marvellous time preparing these breakfast menus and working together with different people. A huge well-done to Team Oyster and Team Lounge! Thanks for the food, we can’t wait for the next cooking challenge!
